I’m not entirely sure how many times I’ve read this book but I do know it has been a while since I’ve picked it up. I’m not sure if it’s just because it has been a substantial amount of time since my last reading but I enjoyed this volume much more then I remember doing so in the past. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second installment in the Potter series. It sees Harry and friends begin another year at their wizarding school of Hogwarts along with the unraveling of a dark but highly engaging mystery. The school is sent into a frenzy when students, ghosts and animals alike start showing up petrified into a catatonic state. The core of this volume is quite dark and confronting but it is still filled with the light hearted humour which made the first book such a success. With each additional story we see the bonds between Harry and his two best friends Ron and Hermione strengthen. After all it’s quite difficult to experience so many near death/expulsion experiences without gaining at least a little fondness for the other person.I’m really enjoying my current journey through the world of Harry Potter and am especially excited for the next volume, The Prisoner of Azkaban, as it was always my favourite.
