The fourth installment in A Series of Unfortunate Events finds the Baudelaires being shipped off to Paltryville to work in a lumbermill under the instruction of their new guardian, known simply as "Sir".The Miserable Mill is full of simply wretched happenings in the Baudelaires lives, as is the norm, including - hypnosis, fake windows, chewing gum for lunch, coupons, a library with only 3 books and the gruesome demise of a wicked person. This book sees Count Olaf attempting cross dressing for the first time with his alas, Shirley. AS if Olaf isn't disturbing enough with his mono-brow and dead eyes, now he's donning a pair of stockings and high heels. Uck!The Miserable Mill is one of the lesser volumes in the series but enjoyable none the less. This book does serve well as a set up for the Baudelaires being sent to a boarding school in the next edition which will be the start of many an important plot point for the rest of the series.
